July 16 2019 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the California City Whiptails 6-1 at Cherry Field. Tucson scored once in the third fourth and fifth innings before breaking the game open with three runs in the eighth. California City scored its lone run in the fifth and finished with seven hits while Tucson collected six.
Nick Diaz led Tucson with two hits and two RBI. Caleb Wichman and Evan Douglas also drove in runs while Riley Richarz scored twice and Lawrence Chavez scored twice after reaching base three times on walks. Daniel Diaz added a double and scored once. Edwin Stanberry had two of California Citys seven hits and scored the Whiptails only run.
Connor McGuinness earned the win for Tucson after allowing one earned run on seven hits in seven innings with two walks and six strikeouts. Sean Lubreski and J. Rivera each worked a scoreless inning to finish the game with Rivera striking out three. California City starter Lukus Holub took the loss after allowing three earned runs on five hits in five innings with five walks and five strikeouts.
