Wasco Reserve Defeats California City Whiptails 15-9

June 30 2019 Wasco Reserve defeated the California City Whiptails 15-9 at Balsitis Park. Wasco collected 15 hits and built an 11-2 advantage through five innings, scoring five runs in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth. California City responded with four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to close within two runs before Wasco added two in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Justin Crider scored three runs and drove in two for Wasco, while Tyler Dupree hit a home run, scored twice and finished with two RBI. Jordan Dicks went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Konosuke Kawagishi contributed two hits and three RBI. Austin Hoffman also had three hits and scored twice. Wasco’s other home run came from Scott Martinez, who scored three runs and drove in one.

Kawagishi earned the win after allowing four hits and five runs, four earned, in five innings with five walks and three strikeouts. Taylor Peterson and Austin Hoffman each worked a scoreless inning in relief. Brian Rosensteel took the loss for California City after surrendering 11 hits and 11 runs in five innings. The Whiptails were led offensively by Giovanni Prado’s three hits and three runs, while A. Parent hit a home run and drove in four runs.
