June 17 2019 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the California City Whiptails 23-5 behind a 19-hit offensive attack. Tucson scored in each of the first six innings, including five runs in the first, four in the second, seven in the third and four in the fourth, to build a commanding lead. California City finished with five hits and scored its runs in the fourth through seventh innings.
Evan Douglas went 2-for-6 with five RBI and three runs for Tucson, while Emmanuel Zorilla went 3-for-5 with six RBI and three runs. J. Garnett added three hits, three RBI and three runs, and Patrick Clifford contributed two hits and three RBI. The box score credits Tucson home runs to Lawrence Chavez, Clifford, Douglas twice, Garnett twice, Zorilla twice and Michael Klein. Tucson also benefited from a four-hit performance by Daniel Diaz and collected 10 walks.
Michael Klein earned the win after allowing three hits and three runs over five innings. He walked three and struck out five, with none of his runs charged as earned. Riley Richarz worked two innings and Daniel Barrett and G. Mack each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the victory. California City starter Lukus Holub took the loss after surrendering 11 hits and 16 runs, 15 earned, in 2 2/3 innings.
