Alpine Cowboys Roll Past California City 16-4
June 12 2019 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the California City Whiptails 16-4 at Kokernot Field behind a 16-hit offensive performance. Alpine erased an early 1-0 deficit with three runs in the third inning and added five runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take control. The Cowboys scored three more in the eighth while California City added two in the fifth and one in the ninth.
C. Scura went 3-for-3 with three runs three RBI and a triple for Alpine. W. Little scored four runs and finished with two hits and three RBI, while Rodney Tennie collected two hits and scored three times. T. Silmon added two doubles and an RBI, and M. Traylor drove in two runs. Alpine also benefited from 10 walks and stole eight bases.
Jose Hernandez earned the win after allowing five hits and three runs two earned in five innings. He walked three and struck out seven. Alejandro Amezquita followed with two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out three. Barry Hamer Jr. completed the game with two innings and allowed one hit and one unearned run.
California City totaled eight hits, with I. Santos and the player listed as J. Tejeda each recording two. N. Escolera drove in the Whiptails' lone RBI. Mike Reeves took the loss after allowing three runs in three innings, while Enrique OCampo surrendered five runs in two-thirds of an inning.
