June 22 2017 The Hollywood Stars defeated the California City Whiptails 14-10 in a high-scoring game. Hollywood collected 19 hits and scored in six innings, including a five-run fourth inning that put the Stars ahead 8-3 after California City had tied the game with three runs in the third.
Ian Horne led Hollywood with three hits, two home runs and four RBI.
Caleb Davidson also went deep and finished with three hits, two runs and two RBI, while Christopher Scalisi added two hits and two RBI.
Jacob Woehler had two hits and two RBI, and Jeremy Melvin contributed a two-run hit.
California City answered with three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh before scoring three more in the eighth, but Hollywood added three runs in the eighth to maintain its lead. Robert De La Hoz paced the Whiptails with three hits, two home runs and five RBI. Maikel Serrano added two hits, including a home run, and two RBI.
Ryan Colombo earned the win for Hollywood after allowing nine hits and seven runs, five earned, in six innings. He struck out three and walked two. Nick Minot worked a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts, and Jeremy Melvin allowed three runs over two innings while striking out five. Tomas Gutierrez took the loss for California City after surrendering 13 hits and 10 earned runs in five innings.
