July 25 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the California City Whiptails 24-7 behind a 25-hit attack. High Desert and California City were tied 3-3 after the first inning, but the Yardbirds pulled away with four runs in the third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth, four in the sixth, two in the seventh and six in the eighth. The Whiptails scored once in the third, twice in the fifth and once in the seventh.
Slayton Vaughan led the Yardbirds with six hits, four runs and seven RBI, including three home runs. Ed Milian added five hits, four runs, six RBI and three homers. D. Reddy collected three hits and two walks, while B. Speas had three hits and three RBI. Oscar Larranaga and Hector Morales each drove in three runs, and Daniel Anciso contributed two RBI.
California City finished with eight hits, led by K. Wagners three hits, three runs and three RBI, including two home runs. Christian Triplett hit a home run and drove in two runs, while Jose Tejeda had two hits. The Whiptails left 11 runners on base and committed two errors.
Jacob Rosales earned the win for High Desert after allowing seven hits and six runs five earned in six innings. He walked three and struck out eight. Cole Langdon worked two innings and Anthony Ward pitched a scoreless ninth. Trevor Wick took the loss for California City after surrendering 11 hits and 12 runs 11 earned in five innings.
